Second Miracle Confirms Italian Blessed's Sainthood Path

Rome Newsroom, May 23, 2024, 6:22 AM

Pope Francis has recognized the second miracle needed for the canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis, an Italian youth who died of leukemia in 2006. The miracle is related to a woman from Costa Rica who was cured of an incurable disease after praying for Acutis' intercession.

Carlo Acutis was born in London in 1991 and moved to Italy as a child. He was diagnosed with leukemia in 2006 and died just one week before his 16th birthday. Acutis was known for his deep faith and his love for the poor and sick. He was a talented computer programmer who used his skills to create websites dedicated to spreading the Gospel.

The first miracle attributed to Acutis' intercession was recognized in 2019. It involved a young Brazilian boy who was cured of a rare pancreatic disease after his parents prayed for Acutis' intercession. The second miracle recognized by the Vatican on Thursday clears the way for Acutis' canonization, which is expected to take place later this year.

Acutis' life is a powerful example of how the internet can be used for good. He used his computer skills to create websites that spread the Gospel and helped people in need. Acutis' story is an inspiration to all of us to use our gifts and talents to make the world a better place.
