Carlo Acutis, Teen Computer Prodigy, Closer to Sainthood

Pope Francis Recognizes Miracle

ROME, Italy - May 23, 2024 - Pope Francis has formally recognized a second miracle attributed to Blessed Carlo Acutis, a teenage computer prodigy who died from leukemia in 2006. This recognition brings Acutis one step closer to becoming the Catholic Church's first millennial saint.

Patron Saint of the Internet

Acutis, who earned the nickname "the computer saint," is widely revered as the patron saint of the internet among Roman Catholics. He was known for his exceptional computer and programming skills, which he used to spread the Catholic faith and promote Eucharistic adoration.

In 2016, Acutis was declared "Venerable" by Pope Francis, recognizing his heroic virtues. The recognition of a second miracle is a significant step in the canonization process, as it affirms Acutis's intercession in God's favor.

If Acutis is formally canonized, he will become the first Catholic saint born in the 21st century, making him a powerful symbol of faith for young people and a reminder of the importance of technology in spreading the Catholic message.
